It all started when the very first owner of Loy Kee, Mr. Loy Nie In, left his hometown from China to Nanyang (Singapore’s name at the time) in 1940 and with his wife, Mdm. Qua Tee, he formulated the unique recipe for Hainanese Chicken Rice in 1953. Thus, Loy Kee Restaurant is founded.

After 30 years, the owner passed down the reins to his son, Mr. James Loy, and his wife.

Thanks to their hard work, Loy Kee Restaurant has been loved by generations in Singapore. And now it’s been brought to HCMC and proudly partnered with Sonata Hotel.

What makes Loy Kee Restaurant ’s Hainanese Chicken Rice so special?

Despite so many other tasty Singaporean food on the menu, Loy Kee Restaurant ’s Hainanese Chicken Rice remains the best in HCMC. Why?…

Well! It’s because to make sure the quality stays the same as the original Loy Kee, our chef handpicks the kind of chicken that were carefully raised and let run loose in the garden, resulting in

their firmer muscles (unlike the factory chickens), hence the soft, crunchy and juicy taste of our beloved Singaporean dish.

Alongside the mysterious dark and viscous soy sauce, the chicken is served with a bowl of savory chicken soup and another bowl of long-grained rice, fragrant with the smell of home-brewed garlic chili.

However, it might take time to prepare the food and here’s why. Before handing over the recipe to his son, the original owner of Loy Kee, Mr. Loy Nie In, believed that the quality of any cuisine depends on the freshness of its ingredients. He also believed in patience and precision when it comes to cooking.

So, it’s safe to say that any great food, especially one in Loy Kee Restaurant, is always worth the wait.
